Crowns
Crowns are used where there is too much of your tooth missing to use a simple filling.
The crown, or cap, is made in a laboratory and made specifically for you so will ordinarily take 2 visits to your dentist to complete.
During the first visit, your dentist will prepare the tooth under a local anaesthetic and take an impression of your teeth which will be sent to the laboratory.
At the end of the first visit, your dentist will provide you with a temporary crown until you next visit at which point the crown will be fitted using dental cement.
There are a wide variety of crowns available and your dentist will discuss with you the options most suited to you.
